About
THE ‘PROJECT’
The Pre/Post project fuses music and storytelling in a dynamic presentation that introduces audiences to the lives of marginalized urban youth. The Pre/Post project endeavors to initiate dialogue around themes of belonging, cultural isolation, power and control, loss, and resiliency and their importance to the practitioner as ‘Story – Gatherer’.
THE PRESENTER
Edmonton musician and presenter Mat Halton is a passionate advocate for the city’s youth. As a Child and Youth Care worker, he has been honored to be in relationship with youth who have demonstrated the willingness and ability to access internal strength against seemingly all odds. The significance of what he sees as a CYC worker and the impression these youth have made on him inevitably comes out in Mat’s song writing. Mat has combined his art with professional training to create an inspiring presentation that will add meaning to helpers’ practice. The music has become a platform to tell of youth’s strength and resilience; PRE/POST’s urban feel is a shout-out to the teens that have changed Mat’s life.
